The second annual Pork in the Park event brought more than 7,000 people to Mill River Park over the weekend. Close to 30 teams competed for the title of CT State Barbeque Champion for the Kansas City Barbeque Society. There was plenty to do for this year’s patrons including food tastings, pig races, and activities for children.
Milton Puryear, Executive Director of the Mill River Park Collaborative, says the family event is a great way to expose people to the park and everything it has to offer. Organizers say Pork in the Park may not take place next year because of ongoing construction, bringing a lot of new and exciting features to Mill River such as an ice skating rink, interactive fountain, and education center.
