In the 11th year of a partnership that has resulted in nearly $30 million to provide books to children in need, Macy’s and Reading is Fundamental are joining together to launch the Be Book Smart campaign. From June 18 through July 13, Macy’s customers can give $3 at any Macy’s register in-store to help provide a book for a child in their local community. Macy’s will donate the full amount to RIF, and customers will receive a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $30 or more.
In Stamford, the Be Book Smart campaign will directly benefit children and families through free book giveaways from the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF). SPEF serves hundreds of children and provides thousands of free books at its events, which also include professional storytellers, snacks and craft tables.
“Thanks to the generosity of RIF, Macy’s, and Macy’s customers, more children in our community will have the chance to receive books of their own and nurture a lifetime love of reading. This campaign is definitely a win-win for everyone involved,” said Sennéa Raslan, Program Coordinator at the Stamford Public Education Foundation.
The Stamford Public Education Foundation will hold eight book giveaways this summer at the follwing locations:
