"Your book Sunny's Story was awesome because you're telling the kids to never do drugs." read Anthony, a fourth grader at Brookside Elementary School.  "Some of them will get injured, your book's inspired them to stop doing drugs."

The Courage to Speak Foundation believes you're never to young to learn about the dangers of drugs.

Brookside Principal David Hay said, "Sometimes they have older brothers and sisters who might be in middle school who are doing it, and that might make them curious a little bit"

Brookside Elementary welcomed Ginger Katz to speak to its fourth and fifth graders Tuesday. After her son Ian's death in 1996, Katz dedicated herself to reaching young people and wrote Sunny's Story to do just that.

"I learned that you should always make right decisions and you should always have trusting friends" said fourth grader Naeomi.

"Drugs, you can get an overdose and when you get an overdose  you could die." said fourth grader Albert.

"Somebody in my family, they used to do drugs, and they didn't die but they stopped doing drugs for 21 years and this book actually saved their life." added fourth grader Randy.

Brookside is the only elementary school in Norwalk to offer the Courage to Speak program to it's fourth graders.

"We already had a drug program in our fifth grade with D.A.R.E., which was very succeessful, so we decided the fourth grade would be nice addition to it." explains Hay, "They have to have a little bit of ability to be able to say 'no' and know a reason why they can say no.  These are the things I don't want to do and walk away from it."
