For a fifth year, the volunteer teens at Kids Helping Kids (KHK) will partner with the stylists at Salon Kiklo in New Canaan to give “Cuts for a Cause.” On Sunday, May 4, salon stylists will cut, wash and blow-dry hair, with all of the proceeds going directly to the purchase and maintenance of wigs for children in need who have lost hair due to diseases such as Alopecia and chemotherapy treatments.
“This is our fifth year and we are proud and excited to continue our support of ‘Cuts for a Cause,’” says Stacey Andrea, manager of Salon Kiklo. “It has been a wonderful journey working with Kids Helping Kids to help them raise awareness of this important organization and raise funds to finance the wigs. Kids Helping Kids’ goal is to send the message that it is not difficult to help out your community. Even by taking small actions, the impact one can create is widespread and powerful.”
“If each person helps a little bit,” said Lexi Kelley, 17 year-old founder of Kids Helping Kids, “then the overall accomplishment is great.”
KHK volunteers will greet clients, offer refreshments, process transactions, run a raffle, and host a bake sale outside of the salon to fund other upcoming youth-led service projects.
Haircuts are $60 and a wash and blow-dry is $30. In addition, customers who participate will receive a coupon for 20% off on their next salon service. Call 203-956-7100 to book an appointment. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
