The Norwalk Board of Education approved budget transfers and presented plans for a new Norwalk Public Schools website Tuesday night.
Brenda Williams, Director of Communications for The Norwalk Public Schools, says the new website is designed to make more information easily accessible to parents and students.
"This website will actually be a more searchable website so that people would be able to find what they're looking for a lot easier," said Williams. "We'll also have a more robust news and calendar feature."
She tells us the new website will be completed by the end of February. As of now residents can check for updates on Norwalk Public Schools Facebook page.
The Board requested a $66,000 transfer from the unemployment account to the superintendent's legal fees account and a $45,000 transfer from the instruction supervisor account to other professional technical services.
"We have $43,000 left and we expect that could get us to about February," said Rudl. "The $66,000 is an estimate to get us through the end of the year."
Chief Financial Officer Rich Rudl says in terms of legal fees the board has spent $190,000 of its $234,000 on litigation matters.
"If you look at the $190,000 that have been spent about 50 percent of that has been litigation matters, so we still have pending cases that haven't been discussed with the board. So the $66,000 will go with the $44,000 that remains in the funds for approximately $110,000 throughout the year and they will cover those five areas."
