Stamford’s Annual Memorial Day Parade kicked off on Summer Street and made its way through downtown Sunday.
The day’s events concluded in Veterans Park with a traditional post-parade ceremony. This year’s ceremony featured a special dedication to Homer Wise, Stamford’s only World War II Medal of Honor recipient.
After years of fundraising, a statue of Wise was installed at Veteran’s Park last December. A plaque dedicated to Wise, located at the base of the new sculpture, was unveiled at the ceremony.
Paul Bucha gave the keynote address at Sunday’s ceremony. Bucha received the Medal of Honor for his service in Vietnam.
