Stamford Hospital has some furry four-legged friends spreading cheer.  As part of the hospital’s therapy dog program, friendly canines visit patients several times a week, to uplift their spirits. Otis, a 3-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, has been visiting Stamford Hospital for about 2 years, one of many stops he makes throughout the week. On Friday, Otis and his buddy Skylar visited with patients, bringing some cheer before the weekend.

Hospital Administrator Judy Stone says the program took off around 2011. She says it warms her heart to see the happiness the dogs bring. The first annual National Therapy Animal Day will take place Monday, May 18, and Otis’s handler Dana Neuman is encouraging those with animals to make a difference.
