Monday kicks off STEM week in Stamford’s Public Schools. From May 11 through May 16, the district will recognize Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through STEM related student lessons and activities in and outside the classroom, including skyping with an astronaut and speaking with technology entrepreneurs. The week will culminate with a STEMfest celebration Saturday at Mill River Park, featuring a day of stem-based activities for students and their parents.

“The goals of the Stamford STEMweek and STEMfest are to build awareness about STEM for students, and their parents; to demonstrate to them how much fun these disciplines can be; and to show students how STEM is inherent in many of the things we do every day,” said Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, of Stamford Public Schools. “We also want students to get a better understanding about the career and college opportunities there are for STEM-focused education.”
