The Fairfield County Community Foundation’s Fund for Women and Girls was founded in 1998 and has since awarded more than $4 million in grants to help over 4,000 women and girls in the area. The program’s goal is to empower women and girls with the tools, education, and confidence they need to lead successful lives.

On Thursday, the organization held its annual luncheon to celebrate its progress. The event’s inspiring speakers, included Academy award winning actress Geena Davis; along with 15-year-old Corinne Wilklow, an aspiring aerospace engineer; and 21-year-old Eloisa Melendez, a councilwoman for the City of Norwalk and the nation’s youngest Hispanic elected to public office.
