Twenty-eight people went bald for a cause Thursday and Royston Blackwell was the first to part with his hair for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The volunteer driven charity funds research for childhood cancer, and Bradford’s Grill and Tavern in Stamford has been involved in the cause for over a decade, transforming its bar into a barbershop. Blackwell raised over $2,000 and his team raised over $50,000.

Last year’s event raised over $90,000. Organizers have tallied over $50,000 so far, but expect to hit the $100,000 mark this year when all the money is in. Stamford’s Firefighters, who are heavily involved with the event, raised more than $7,000.

There was standing room only as the lively crowd cheered on the 28 shavees. A fun event for everyone, with a meaningful purpose. It’s not too late to donate. To contribute, visit the link provided.
