After taking a break for the holidays, the City's Animal Control Center Task Force came together this Thursday to discuss ongoing plans for the shelter. A continuous item on the agenda, finding a new shelter site. Co-Chair Eileen Heaphy says the task force visited six sites, narrowing the list down to four locations, with two top picks. The Task Force will present a report to the Mayor with their findings.

The shelter also has a permanent director now, staff member Tilford Cobb, who was previously serving as Interim Director. And the shelter's volunteer program is slowly growing. There are now 23 volunteers with weekend hours added. The shelter director expressed at the meeting that volunteers need to be integrated at a steady pace, keeping things orderly and organized to best meet the needs of staff and animals.

The Task Force hopes to have things wrapped up by April.
