Here's a look at some of our top stories in Stamford Politics for 2014.

November's election was a big win for Stamford's Democrats, who beat out their republican opponents in every  race across the board. Incumbent Carlo Leone reclaimed his seat in the State Senate, and incumbents William Tong, Patricia Billie Miller, and Daniel Fox will continue to serve as State Representatives. The House also welcomed two newcomers this year. Terry Adams beat Republican Kieran Ryan for District 146, after it was left open by Gerald Fox who won Probate Judge. And Caroline Simmons is now representing District 144, unseating two-term republican incumbent Mike Molgano.

Connecticut's Democrats also kept the seat for Governor. Dannel Malloy, who served as Stamford's Mayor until 2009,  was re-elected for a second term,  again narrowly beating opponent Tom Foley. Malloy had the support of President Barack Obama, who came to Bridgeport to support the Governor and State Democrats a few days before the election.

It's been one year since David Martin was sworn in as Stamford's 31rst Mayor. The position was up for grabs after former Mayor Michael Pavia decided not to run for another term, and Martin beat out Republican opponent Michael Fedele. Martin has 30 years of experience working for the city, serving on the Board of Finance and as President of the Board of Representatives. The Mayor stopped into our studio this month to reflect on the past year and talk about future plans for the City.

That was a look back at some of our top stories in Stamford politics this year.
