Fairfield County joins together today, remembering those who died while being homeless.

Congressman Jim Himes leads the service, along with the Interfaith Council  of Southwestern Connecticut and other local agencies.

Today is not only about raising awareness to the tragedy, but educating others about its prevention.

This event is now one of many part of the National Homeless Person’s Memorial Day.  The national day of awareness took root back in 1990 and since then it’s held annually on the first day of winter.  To learn more about homelessness you can go to : national homeless dot org.
