It was a countdown to crunchtime, as three hundred students at Cloonan Middle School participated in Connecticut’s first Apple Crunch. The Stamford students joined 5,000 people across the state in simultaneously crunching into an apple at noon.

Organized by The Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the statewide Apple Crunch was just one of thousands of events held across the country Thursday to celebrate Food Day. Held every year on October 24, Food Day is all about promoting healthy eating.
