The man who's charged with the murder of a Stamford taxi driver was back in court Tuesday.  The suspect -- 29-year-old Shota Mekoshvili -- is pleading not guilty in the stabbing death of 47-year-old Mahomed Kamal.

Off camera, family friend Kamrun Mannan says Kamal was a hard working family man, and is survived by his wife and their 3-year-old son.

"They had so many dreams and so much planned out.  Not just for the coming months but for a couple of years.  They were planning on having another baby and getting their son in school. That's all shattered because of this guy, just because of his decision to kill him," said Mannan.

Calling for justice, close friends and family members say they'll attend every court hearing.  It was last month when police say Kamal was attacked and killed by a man he picked up in his cab.  Police arrested the alleged attacker the same day.  Today, Mekoshvili's lawyer, Lindy Urso, announced a decision to waive a probable cause hearing.

Kamal was a U.S. citizen and immigrant from Bangladesh, supporting his family as a cab driver the last 7 or 8 years, the family says.  They're hoping to see the accused receive life in prison.  Mekoshvili is due back in court next month.
