Whether it's the first day of elementary school or high school, local photography expert Fred Bonilla says the person clicking away is doing more than just taking pictures.

"They're probably going to be the family historian.  Meaning they'll be the one that's going that's going to record the events that are going to be important," said Fred Bonilla, photography instructor and event coordinator at Camera Wholesalers in Stamford.

Bonilla says taking back to school pictures is simple, offering these steps.  Step 1, feel comfortable with the camera.  Step 2:  Shoot for the moments you'll want to remember.  Step 3:  Have fun and get creative.
