As summer continues in the month of August, the hours at Stamford's pools and beaches are changing.
The mayor's office is announcing that beaches will remain open for residents, however, the city is adjusting hours and restrictions during the final weeks of the season because of lifeguard availability.
The office says Dorothy Heroy Pool will be closed for the season on August 10, and here are the upcoming restrictions around Stamford's waterfront:
-Quigley Beach (Horseshoe) will have no lifeguards on duty starting August 10.
-Beginning August 11, Cove (East) Beach, Cummings Beach and West Beach will utilize a reduced swim area.
-Reduced swim areas will be marked with red swim area flags. Lifeguards will direct swimmers and those utilizing the water for play to remain within the marked areas.
-Lifeguards will be on duty at reduced swim area beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All Stamford lifeguards will be off duty for the season starting September 1.
The office says lifeguards are critical to ensure safety of the city's pools and beaches and the city is always looking for certified lifeguards. If you're interested in applying, visit this link: http://www.stamfordrecreation.com/
