Body of Missing Boater Recovered

Victim located overnight by Conn. State Police

Norwalk, CT | Added on May 27, 2014 At 09:41 AM

The body of the missing boater, the subject of yesterday’s search in the Long Island Sound off Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk has been recovered.

According from a press release from the Norwalk Police Department, a Connecticut State Police (CSP) Team using an advanced side scan sonar unit located the 40-year-old Norwalk resident overnight. The body was located underwater, south/southwest of the original search area.

The CSP vessel brought the body of the boater ashore where Norwalk Police met them. The body was turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. There were no visible signs of trauma.

The victim’s wallet, containing personal identification and cash, was located in his pants pocket. The name on the identification matched the name on a passport that had been recovered along with the canoe earlier in the day.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
