It's a place where dogs and their owners alike love to be in stamford.

"The dogs love it here," said Rich Markham, Stamford resident.

"It's the greatest park," said Ruth Ann Shapiro, a Cos Cob resident.

Ruth Ann Shapiro brings her 3-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback Eli to Stamford's dog park about four to five times a week.

"This is truly the best dog park.  First of all, the people are wonderful and the dogs are great," said Shapiro.

Markham says he's been bringing his great danes, two sisters from the same pack, since the park opened.  The 1.2 acre park is celebrating its 5 year anniversary this Saturday.

The event will be hosted by the Dog Friends of Stamford from noon to 3 pm.  There will also be a free microchip clinic offered by the Outreach to Pets in Need organization.
