Five percent more per ride starting January 1

Stamford, CT | Added on December 11, 2013 At 03:03 PM

Metro-North fares will increase by 5 percent on the New Haven Line in the New Year.

According to the MTA's website, "A fare increase of 5% approved by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) goes into effect on Metro-North’s New Haven Line on January 1, 2014."

This increase will affect ticket prices for travel between Connecticut and New York stations and travel between stations within Connecticut.

Currently, a one-way peak ticket from Stamford to Grand Central Central Station cost travelers $13.75. Once the fare increase is in effect, a one-way peak ticket will cost $14.50
