A group of students involved in the Stamford Boys and Girls Club are now playwrights.

For 8 weeks, the students have been writing and rehearsing a one-act play at the Palace Theatre with teacher David Robertson.  The theatre's Director of Education Carol Bryan says the Young Playwrights Festival is one of a kind.  She says it aims to improve literacy, creativity and self-esteem.

The students performed Tuesday at the Palace Theatre, as the first group to participate.  Bryan says the new program was made possible through a partnership with Pitney Bowes.  They plan to continue the festival in the spring with a 5th grade class in Greenwich.
