Early Thursday morning -- 6:30 a.m. early -- Miss Connecticut Kaitlyn Tarpey and KNB Communications of Stamford, collected food and monetary donations for the Connecticut Food Bank.

The group braved the chilly morning air and bundled up outside Stop and Shop in Westport for the cause.  Around 8:00 a.m., many people had dropped by the site.  They collected 10 turkeys and about 40 boxes of food.

"It's so cool to see people waking up early for such a good cause," said Kaitlyn Tarpey, Miss Connecticut, who is also a Stamford native.
