Guide To The Primary Election

20 poll locations throughout city

Stamford, CT | Added on August 13, 2012 At 11:53 AM

Tuesday, August 14 marks election primary day in Connecticut.  There will be 20 poll locations throughout Stamford.  Registered voters can visit the city's website to identify their district by address or neighborhood.

Former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz will challenge the Congressman of Connecticut's fifth district, Chris Murphy, for a spot on the Democratic ticket in the U.S. Senate race.  Linda McMahon and Christopher Shays hope to become Republican candidate.  The seat is currently held by Joseph Lieberman who is not running for reelection.  Both McMahon and Shays are Fairfield County residents and have ties to Stamford.  McMahon is CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment based in Stamford while Shays represented Connecticut's fourth district in Congress until 2008 when he lost reelection to Jim Himes.

Democrats will also vote on who will replace Alice Fortunato as the city's Democratic Registrar of Voters come January.   Annie Summerville and Ron Malloy are both running.  Summerville has served on the Stamford Board of Representatives since 1977 and has been clerk of the board since 1979.  Malloy is brother to former Mayor and current Governor Dannel Malloy. He has spent over 40 years as an administrator in public elections.
