Aquarion Water Company has issued a water alert for the Stamford area.
Bruce Silverstone vice president of corporate communications said earlier today customers reported discolored water. Silverstone said this is due to the high demand of water during the past few days of high temperatures. He said as water runs through the systems, natural sediment falls to the bottom and when increased demand occurs, it sometimes picks up this sediment, discoloring the water.
Silverstone said the water is safe however urges customers not to use the water until it is clear. He says the water may stain clothes. He estimates it should be cleared by this evening.
