Beach season is here and with the beaches officially opening this weekend, the City has been working hard to prepare.  Parks & Facilities Manager Kevin Murray says City workers have been sprucing up flowerbeds, raking the sand, cleaning, and more.

Murray says the City has been also working with a consulting firm to draft a Master Plan for its parks and beaches. The draft includes a new marina for West Beach, which was destroyed during Superstorm Sandy, along with an improved pavilion, bike and walking trails and more.  The City is also working to put a smoking ban policy in place at the beaches, something Murray says he’s on board with.

Stamford’s beaches officially open this Friday, May 1.
