Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame Inducts New Honorees

Marty Roos, Chico Chacurian among those recognized

Seven sports legends were honored Thursday at the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame plaque hanging ceremony at UConn Stamford.

Among those recognized was Marty Roos, a longtime High School Hockey Coach at Fairfield Prep and then Notre Dame, winning the most victories of any coach in the state. Even after retirement, Roos is still very much involved with the game. The former coach, who owns two rinks in Connecticut, now spends his time teaching 5 and 6 year olds the sport.

The class of 2014 honorees are:

Jackie Robinson Professional Wing: CRAIG BRESLOW (TRUMBULL), JULIE CHU (FAIRFIELD)

James O’Rourke Amateur WingNADINE DOMOND (BRIDGEPORT),the late MICKEY CONNOLLY (NORWALK)

J. Walter Kennedy Community Service Wing EFRAIN "CHICO" CHACURIAN (BRIDGEPORT), the late JOHN "SHARKEY" LAURENO (STAMFORD), MARTY ROOS (FAIRFIELD)
