A ceremony at the Palace Theatre Thursday night recognized the work of those who make a difference.  Hosted by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, the Eighth Annual Community Celebration honored leaders and nonprofits in Southern Connecticut.

The honor of the night was the 2014 Neighborhood Builders Award. Since 2004, the program has strengthened communities investing more than $150 million in 800 nonprofits. $6 million has been invested in Connecticut alone over the past decade, and this year's award went to Stamford's Inspirica, the largest provider of services to the homeless in lower Fairfield County.

In addition to reciving $200,000 in funding, Inspirica's executives will receive leadership training with other award recipients from around the country. To date, the program has provided training to more then 1500 nonprofit leaders.

Inspirca has helped hundreds of individuals and families get back on their feet over the past few years. To find ou more, visit inspiricact.org.
