While you may be sitting down to dinner or finishing a little last minute work, there are people in Stamford who are getting together on the fourth Wednesday of every month to mingle and share their “green” ideas.  This past Wednesday, the group met at Butterfield 8 on Broad Street in downtown Stamford.  Daphne Dixon, the co-host of the Stamford Green Drinks says that the events are lively, free, and fun and open to anyone interested in sharing ideas about sustainable practice

Green Drinks was founded in London in 1989 and traveled across the ocean to the United States in 2002.   Nine years later, there are about 400 Green Drinks events held across the United States each month.  The Stamford Green Drinks meetings began two years ago and are co hosted by Dixon and Steve Grasso.   Both Grasso and Dixon say they welcome newcomers to the events and hope that sustainable ideas continue to work their way into our mainstream culture.

As well as being on the Mayor’s green council, ‘Sustainable Stamford,’ Dixon founded a company called Conscious Decisions that aims to pursue the dream of a sustainable world. To learn more about Conscious Decisions or sustainability in our area, please visit www.consciousdecisions.org.
