It's the day before the St. Leo Fair begins and there's a lot to get done for the 34th annual event.
"We have a tremendous amount of volunteers who have to put the tables under the tents and cover them and put the equipment out. A lot of this equipment we own," said Joe Romano, a long time St. Leo Fair volunteer. "The grills, the refrigerators, the freezers. We have a trailer in the back."
Joe Romano is one of hundreds of volunteers. He's been lending a hand for 17 years and says preparations begin in January.
"January, start planning. We need to figure out the bands, we have to find entertainment. We need to figure out what food products worked, didn't work," said Romano.
As the months fly by, the end of summer is here before you know it -- making the carnival a tradition for many.
"Great fair food. Best fair food around. Best fried dough, best sauce -- all home made," said Romano. "We have a good seafood booth and everyone that comes says the food is why they come." He also says this year there will be a car raffle and other prizes.
The fair begins Tuesday and runs through Saturday at 24 Roxbury Rd.
