The Kiwanis Club of Stamford’s latest initiative to support Stamford Public Schools, “Kiwanis Music,” has been selected as the beneficiary of the freewill offering at the inaugural performance of the “Music @ St. Andrew’s Concert Series” at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
The concert will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 6 p.m. with performances by dramatic soprano Korin Kormick and pianist Dr. Ling Leng. The program will consist of the Wesendonck Lieder by Richard Wagner, as well as arias by Wagner, Berlioz, Menotti and Bellini. Ms. Kormick is an accomplished vocalist who recently appeared as Adaligisa in Bellini’s Norma with the Hudson Opera Company. Dr. Leng is a collaborative pianist whose performance venues include Ozawa Hall of Tanglewood music center, New England Conservatory, Boston University and Harvard University.
All proceeds will benefit Kiwanis Music to fund purchases of musical instruments for the Stamford Public School music programs. Donations of used musical instruments will be accepted at the event. People can also drop off instruments at the Higgins Group of Stamford at 27 Strawberry Hill Ave, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Checks can be made out to the Stamford Kiwanis Trust Fund and sent to The Kiwanis Club of Stamford, Post Office Box 3404 Stamford, CT 06905-3404.
