Firefighters from Cos Cob to Westport faced off last month in a grilling competition, but it the end only one department could be the winner.
The Belltown Fire Department from Stamford competed against the Noroton Heights Fire Department, the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, and the Westport Fire Department in Fairway Market's fourth annual challenge, and Belltown came out on top.
This week to celebrate Belltown firefighters' dedication, bravery and grilling skills, the market is hosting a shopping night for the department's charity -- The Stamford Fire Safety Foundation.
The shopping night will donate 25 percent of all sales between 4 and 10 p.m. to the foundation, which raises funding to provide free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire prevention education materials and supports public life safety initiatives for all of the city's fire departments. Belltown also won a $500 gift card to use for their firehouse.
To participate in the shopping event, Fairway customers can simply register at an in-store table and receive a form that they'll present to the cashier while checking out.
The shopping night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Stamford location, 699 Canal St.
