Stamford's fire marshal office is officially declaring two restaurant fires in the city as arson.

The fire marshal says two fires were deliberately set to two Asian restaurants, in less than 10 days, by an individual or group.

One was at Sushi X on Atlantic St. on May 18.  The blaze was set overnight, but was extinguished, and Sushi X was able to reopen the following day.  But the Pearl East Restaurant on Summer St. suffered major damage from a May 27 fire, destroying and closing the business.

The fire marshal and Stamford police are working to solve the crime.  They're now seeking the public's help, offering a $3,500 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest and successful prosecution of an individual or group involved with the crimes.

Call their toll free Arson Hotline at 1-800-4ARSON or 1-800-842-7766.  All information is strictly confidential.

The Organization of Chinese Americans Fairfield County Chapter has contributed 1,000 dollars toward the reward.
