In Greenwich, all students are given mandatory summer reading, and the Byram Shubert Library wants to help students reach their reading goals. The library is kicking of its annual Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, June 18.
This year's theme is "Fizz Boom Read", based on the different sciences. Programs related to science will run all summer long. There will be an animal show, chemistry experiments, a magic and science comedy show, and the program will open with Casey Carle's BubbleMania show on Wednesday.
Once registered, a child gets access to all the events, and is given a booklet to keep track of how much he or she reads. Every week, students are rewarded for the amount of reading they complete.
Children can register for the program from 2:30 to 5:00 at the Byram Library. A full list of event dates and times are online at www.greenwichlibrary.org.
