Stamford Mayor David  Martin stressed how important the New Haven rail line is to the city before a Senate transportation subcommittee Thursday.

Martin says many rely on the train and says there's a great need for federal rail infrastructure investment.

We spoke with the mayor after the hearing, and he said it was, "A great opportunity for those of us here in Stamford to talk about the needs that extend beyond Stamford," said Mayor David Martin.  "We need investment in that rail line and it's not all about Stamford, it's about all of Fairfield County."

The hearing was held by the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation's Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety and Security.
