Lorca coffee shop on Bedford Street brews specialty coffee and bakes homemade churros and pastries, but it's also serving up something else.
"We want people to feel welcome and involved," said Emily Simons.
So once a month, Lorca hopes to introduce new and old residents to all the happenings in the city to build a strong sense of community. Walking in to the store Wednesday, the informal event created the spark for just that.
"Just create a sense of belonging to Stamford, instead of feeling like you're dropping in and dropping out," said Simons, "And it's a way for people to feel like they can be involved in what's going on and they can meet new people."
Lorca hosted its first social event with Hey Stamford! and What's on the Menu -- two local blogs that post what's going on around town.
