Yes the prince is giving a ball, and it's happening at West Rocks Middle School.
The West Rocks Drama Club is putting the finishing touches on its' production of Rodgers and Hammerstien's Cinderella.
Chinari Campbell is a member of the ensemble. She said "I wanted to join the musical because I like to sing and act and dance. I have a big thing on that - it's part of my family."
Jason Gorman will portray the Herald. "I got into it [acting] in elementary school because it was like a mandatory thing and it ended up being fun so I decided to do Crystal Theater and then I decided to do this too."
And performers say the show has taught them more than just lines in a script.
Anna Breault plays the title role of Cinderella. "It is big and it's hard work and you have to take out a lot of time outside of school."
Katherine Fallon plays one of Cinderella's wicked stepsisters Portia. "I have learned a lot of different tips about acting and singing. I've met a lot of new friends that I never would have talked to so it's been a really good experience and I wouldn't change it for anything."
With the sets taking shape and cues being perfected, performers say they are ready for opening night.
When asked what she was the most excited for Anna Breault said, "the few minutes before you step out on stage because you are so pumped. We've had multiple weeks and days of practice and you are so ready for it and you are like OK, I got this!"
"At the end of the show you are so excited and proud of what you have done. The bows are so amazing because you have accomplished something really big that wouldn't think you could do," added Fallon.
The lights go up on Cinderella on a Friday, April 4th at West Rocks Middle School.
