Stamford kicked off St. Patrick’s Day Monday morning with an Irish flag raising ceremony at the City’s Government Center. The annual event is hosted by the Stamford chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a Catholic, Irish American fraternal organization founded in New York City in 1836.

This year’s ceremony was held in honor of longtime AOH members Margaret “Honey” Ryan and Tom Dougherty, who live by the organization’s motto of friendship, unity, and Christian charity.
