How do you spell e-d-u-c-a-t-i-o-n? The Norwalk Education Foundation is asking the public to dust off their dictionaries and get set for the 2nd community competition on March 26th. Last year’s event brought together over 20 teams of adults and high school students, represented by teachers, common council members, local businesses and members of the Norwalk Court.
Last year's event raised $11,000 for the Norwalk Education Foundation. This year 6 Norwalk Public Schools are competing for spelling supremacy along with teachers, local businesses and more. School teams are from Fox Run, Columbus, Naramake, Marvin, Roton, Ponus and Norwalk High School.
Instead of selling tickets to all attendees, there is a suggested donation of $5+ per family. NEF also added “spell checks” and “2nd chances” for each team to purchase to extend their stay in the competition. According to the NEF, those extras will work like insurance for the teams.
The Norwalk Education Foundation 2nd Annual Community Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday, March 26th at 6:30 p.m. at the Norwalk Concert Hall. (125 East Avenue, Norwalk CT)
