Columbus Magnet School will hold an Informational Open House meeting for prospective parents on Thursday February 27. The alternative public elementary school is currently accepting 2014 lottery applications for all grade levels.
Principal Emily Lopez says every years there has always been a high demand.
"Our admission is through lottery only," said Lopez. "We accept as many open spaces as we have available. We have as many as we have available. We have 66 open kindergarten spaces. We have three classes for kindergarten so we'll be selecting from those classes as well as any other openings from other grades."
The school is open to all students residing in Norwalk from grades K to 5. It's designated as a H.O.T. (Higher Order Thinking School) by the Connecticut Commission of the Arts, which integrates art and music into the curriculum based on a democratic school setting.
The school will also offer prospective parents a tour throughout the lottery application period. Reservations are required. Tours will be held on Thursday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The tour dates are: February 27th; March 6th, 13th, 20th. Reservations are required. For further information on the lottery process, open house, or to make a tour reservation contact Terry Lakin at 203.899.2840 ext.118 or email@example.com.
