"I'm here today to announce that I'm Matthew Quinones and I'm ready to serve the City of Stamford and the 144th district of Connecticut's general assembly."
Matthew Quinones there announcing his candidacy for state representative, Monday. The Democrat, who newly represents Stamford's 16th district on the board of representatives, says he's all about hard work.
"Now I know this is no easy task, but I've never been afraid of hard work," said Quinones. "Hard work is the theme of my candidacy and it's my promise to you."
Quinones currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Public Safety and Health Committee for the board of reps. The Stamford native also serves as a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Services and works for the Stamford Public Education Foundation.
"I've never been afraid to work for this city and I've demonstrated the type of work ethic it's going to take to support our growing population," said Quinones. "Stamford is the city the works and deserves government representation that will work for its people."
Quinones will challenge Republican incumbent Michael Molgano this November.
