On Tuesday night, Stamford residents got the chance to meet with Stamford’s newly elected Mayor one-on-one. Over a dozen residents spoke privately with Mayor David Martin in his office as a part of the Mayor’s Night In program.
Mayor’s Night In began with Governor Dannel Malloy during his term as Stamford’s Mayor, which ended in 2009. And after a 4-year hiatus during the Pavia administration, Mayor Martin says it was time to bring the program back.
Residents showed up to discuss everything from housing to environmental concerns to small business opportunities to jobs. Although they all had different concerns and ideas, everyone agreed that the program was long overdue.
Martin says Mayor’s Night In will be a monthly event, in which he will see residents on a first come, first served basis. The Mayor says he also plans to hold Mayor’s Night Out events as well, meeting with residents in their neighborhoods, along with virtual meetings.
