UPDATE : January 19, 2014 - 6:15 pm Denver Broncos crowned AFC Champions in win over New England Patriots 26-16.
Super Bowl 48 is exactly 2 weeks away and New England Patriots fans hoped to cheer their team to victory, during the AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
"Whoever wins this game goes to the Super Bowl and that's pretty cool," said Anthony, a Partriots fan who often watches games with his father Mark. "It's a great connection with my dad."
Sporting their favorite players names on their backs, fans say this game is a big deal.
"This game is huge. The Pats have had an incredible season and for them to win this and go on to the Super Bowl would just be remarkable. It's unbelievable," said Mark, a Patriots fan who has been watching games at Black Bear Saloon since they opened in South Norwalk in 2004.
In addition to wearing their favorite gear to cheer on the Patriots, fans say the game brings them closer together.
Barry, a longtime Patriots fan and South Norwalk business owner said, "It gives them a lot of time to hang out with my friends, and it gives me time to get away from my wife. But I actually do love the Patriots. Since I was six years old, I've loved their uniform and ever since then [I've been a fan]. Plus my father is from Boston and there's a lot of reason. I like hanging out with these guys."
Anthony said "When I go back to school, my friends and I have a nice big conversation about it and we all form a good friendship from it."
Mark said, "I've been sitting here [since 2004] watching the football games, watching the Patriots. It's a great time to bond with your friends, you know, just have a great time."
