Stamford Dollars for Scholars will make its 2014 online scholarship application available beginning Wednesday, January 15. Students who live or attend high school in Stamford and are pursuing a full-time two or four-year-college education or accredited vocational training are eligible to apply.
Last year, Stamford Dollars for Scholars provided 23 scholarships to local graduates, according to a statement released by the organization. Stamford Dollars for Scholars hopes to award over 30 scholarships to 2014 graduates.
“This year, the Stamford community reaffirmed its recognition of the need for scholarships by further supporting Stamford Dollars for Scholars through a large increase in sponsored scholarships,: the statement said.
The Dollars for Scholars online application allows students to apply for multiple scholarships with a single application. Applicants can apply for any Dollars for Scholars scholarship they meet the criteria for. By applying, students will also automatically gain access to Scholarship America’s resources and have the opportunity to search for other scholarships.
“We in turn benefit from a rich pool of applicants and can award scholarships to those most deserving and with the greatest need,” said Tony D’Amelio, Co-President and founder of the organization. “Our goal is to continue to raise awareness in the Stamford community to ensure local graduates know about our scholarships and apply, and increasing our help to a greater percentage of those who apply in 2014 and beyond.”
