Governor Dannel Malloy joined local dignitaries to celebrate the relocation of Homserve USA's headquarters from Stamford to the Merritt 7 Corporate Office in Norwalk Wednesday morning.
Homeserve's USA is an independent provider of home emergency repair service plans dedicated to protecting homeowners against the expense of water, sewer, electrical, and other emergencies by providing affordable coverage policies.
"Our business is growing at about 20 to 25 percent a year and we wanted to find a place that there was enough space for all the employees we have now," said HomeServe USA CEO Thomas Rusin. "But also for the next five years to come at a minimum, where there was more office space very closely located where we can grow beyond that and there was a great group of talented people to hire."
The company expects to hire 130 new employees.
"Any time that we can grow jobs in Connecticut and frankly attract them from out of state, we're picking up employees that were formally based in Florida, is a great day," said Gov. Dannel Malloy. "Connecticut is growing its economy now. We're having back-to-back year job growth that's second only to the 1990's so we're on the move."
"I'd just like to pick out 3 reasons why we chose Connecticut for what will become our biggest business," said HomeServe Global Chief Executive and company founder Richard Harpin. "Number one, it's a great location here in the Northeast of America, secondly there's a wealth of management talent. That's evidence from the people that we already have in the business today and the ones that we'll be hiring over the coming years and thirdly and we mentioned it earlier, Connecticut state is a very friendly business state and we're happy to have that support."
Homeserve also has operations in the UK, France, Italy and Germany. Its USA headquarters is located in the Merritt 7 Corporate Office Park on the 6th floor of 601 Merritt 7. For more information visit homeserveusa.com
