The Greenwich YMCA announces a new Aquatics Director.
"I'm really looking to build this program, make it a fun and safe place for members to enjoy," says Kevin Switek, Director of Aquatics.
Switek, who has been in the YMCA family for seven years, says he hopes to establish new aquatics programs to help meet the needs of the community.
"Adapted aquatics, so special needs swim lessons, are a fantastic thing to bring in, I think there is a need for it in the community and the Y is all about wherever there is a need we try to fill that gap," says Switek.
One of the biggest challenges in the position is managing pool time for the many different programs.
"With so many different programs, so many different needs, obviously everybody needs space, everybody needs time, so really learning what the needs are of our members, our swim school, our teams, and learning what the community is looking for and really balancing those things together," says Switek.
Switek hopes to emphasize the importance of learning to swim and wants to see new members in the pool.
"Lessons are very important, getting people to learn how to swim, it's an important life saving skill and it's a fun skill," says Switek.
