There was plenty of chili to warm up visitors Sunday at Stamford’s 6th annual charity chili cook-off. After being held downtown in previous years, organizers hosted this year’s cook-off at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
The cook-off was held in conjunction with the Nature Center’s Touch-A-Truck event, raising money for both the Nature Center and The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.
Joe Gonzalez, organizer of the event, says 11 teams took part in the contest, luring hundreds to the Nature Center throughout the day to taste and vote for their favorite chili.
Gonzalez says several hundred pounds of food and more then $1500 was collected, the most money the cook-off has raised to date. He says he hopes the event will continue at the Nature Center in the years to come.
