It's a homerun that's brought the Stamford Loft Artists to a new home in the city's South End. The association has been sharing artists' work with the community for 35 years.
"This move is really exciting. Now we have 14 brand new beautiful studios and two professional galleries," said Ellen Gordon, president of the LAA.
Though they have a new space at 575 Pacific St., they are not new to the South End. The association's building was on Canal St., but the artists had to move after developer Building and Land Technology proposed a rent increase.
But in the end, it all worked out.
BLT agreed to renovate the Pacific St. space. In exchange, the artists agreed to provide workshops for children and other community programs.
The association will host open studios the rest of this weekend as part of its grand opening. Visit loftartists.com to find out more.
