Arts and Crafts on Bedford Street returned to downtown Stamford this weekend. More than 100 vendors lined the streets, selling everything from jewelry, to artwork, to handmade crafts. Sunday’s warm weather made for a great last day of the annual event.
“I make collapsible baskets, decorative items, and holiday ornaments, and in wide variety,” says Donald Deveny. “The ornaments here are all made out of natural wood and they’re the natural colors of the wood.”
“My business is called peaceful places and I photograph mostly landscape and seascape and the New England area,” says Tom Kretsch. “I like boats and I like reflections so I do a lot of abstractions from boats and parts of boats that I see in the water.”
“Wire sculptures that I make out of copper-coated steel wire, and when the pieces are finished they’re power coated black basically for contrast,” says Ron Stattner. “It’s just basically done by hand; pliers, the joints are welded.”
“A lot of people are just walking around for a day of relaxation but you do get a lot of people who are seriously interested,” says Kretsch.
