“I’m David Martin, and I’m running for Mayor”

Tuesday’s primary election was a victory for David Martin, who will be Stamford’s democratic candidate for mayor in November’s election. Martin beat out opponent William Tong by almost 300 votes. The absentee ballots alone put Martin ahead by over 200 votes.

Martin’s supporters gathered at the Stamford Marriott Tuesday night to celebrate the win. In his victory speech, Martin commended Tong’s effort.

This will be Martin’s second time running for Mayor in Stamford. In 2009, he lost to current Mayor Michael Pavia.

About 27% of the City’s registered democrats voted in this year’s primary.

Martin will face Republican Michael Fedele in the November election.
