Charter Oak Communities held a groundbreaking ceremony in Stamford Wednesday for its newest residential community, Greenfield. Greenfield is phase 3 of the revitalization of Vidal Court, a low-income apartment complex built in the 1950s.
Twenty-seven of Greenfield’s 45 units will be rented to low or moderate-income households, 18 will be rented at market rate. This is part of Charter Oak’s plan to create more mixed-income housing communities in Stamford. Vince Tufo, Executive Director and CEO of COC, says Vidal Court is Charter Oak’s third public housing property in the City to be replaced, a process that the housing authority began in the late 1990s.
Funding for the project comes from a variety of state, federal, and local partners. Greenfield is projected to be completed by the fall of next year. To find out more about Charter Oak Communities, visit www.CharterOakCommunities.org
